Southeast Middle School:
Taking the Next Step in Life
We are blessed with a middle school program that gives our students a chance to prepare for life in high school. Our middle school program started in 2001, and since then we have seen our graduates move on to success at area high schools. In addition to the elementary program distinctives listed in the Elementary section, Middle School students get prepared for life by taking more responsibility around the school. Our middle school distinctives include:
Sports programs: Southeast competes with area schools in soccer, volleyball and basketball.
Prefect Leadership: Students serve annually and enjoy leading the school in missions opportunities, school improvement projects, and dialogue with school administration.
Departmentalized approach: Students have a "home room" advisor and a variety of subject teachers--just like high school.
Separate Chapel for middle school: Music and topics aimed at this age group are the norm.
Overnight field trips: Our smaller class sizes allow us to take students around the community for experiential learning.
Lockers: No, not big enough to stuff your friend into it, but just the type to get a student prepared for high school organization.
School service opportunities: students help run chapel, including sound and lights; serve as elementary student aides; and have a variety of opportunities for leadership around the school.
