Spiritual Life at Southeast

Besides the parents, the most influential adult in the life of a child is the teacher. At Southeast our teachers are committed to bringing Christ into the classroom every day. We are often asked, "How often do you teach Bible class?" Our answer is that Bible class goes all day--at lunch, at recess, in the hallways, and sure enough, during daily Bible lessons. Yes, we believe in the value of spiritual disciplines like weekly Bible memory, weekly chapel, and opening everyday with prayer, but our total focus is on encouraging an atmosphere where a relationship with God through Christ permeates all that we do.

Students who attend Southeast are blessed by:
  • Daily Prayer
Each day opens with prayer, pledges to the Bible, the Christian flag, and the American flag. In addition, our students and teachers pray throughout the day. We think prayer in the name of Jesus makes a difference.
  • Weekly Chapel
Each week students gather for worship. Featuring student participation each week, complete with singing vibrant worship songs, Bible instruction, and an occasional guest speaker.
  • Weekly Bible Memory
We agree with the Psalmist, we will hide God's word in the hearts of our students.
  • Strong Christian Role Models
All of our staff are mature believers in Christ and model a spiritually mature lifestyle to our students.
  • A Peer Group with Christian Values
Our students are here to grow in Christ. Sure, they are still kids who make mistakes, but our families enjoy a community of fellow believers who want to raise their kids in the knowledge of Christ.
  • A Call to Serve and a Call to Missions
Our community is truly blessed of God. As a part of our students' growth in Christ, we focus on giving to others throughout the year. Students have raised money for an orphanage, collected canned goods for a local food bank, and performed other acts of service. Our 8th graders are required to do a Christian Action Project before they graduate.
  • Hallways Filled with Joy
Come visit our school and you'll sense the strong love of Christ that fills the school. We think that the "feel" of school says a lot about what a school values.

Our Christian emphasis means that students enjoy weekly chapel, where we sings songs of praise to Christ, perform drama, and hear lessons from student and adult presenters. Students memorize a Bible verse each week, and start each morning with prayer.

Our motto "Strengthening Faith, Building Character, Achieving Excellence" means that we teach our students that their life has a divine purpose, and that by understanding that purpose, they can grow in maturity: spiritually, academically, and emotionally.
